Gabriella Cilmi
Australian songstress Gabriella Cilmi has grown up for her big comeback this year, and judging by On A Mission she has a new look and sound to prove it. With her new single she goes in a completely different direction to her bluesy debut and instead opts, as many have done before, for an eighties-pop feel. She pulls it off with the song, but it’s the video that completes the package for me. Climi told the Sunday Times, “I got to fulfil my dream of making a Barbarella inspired clip,”; she also fulfills my dream of watching a perfect music video, it’s simply amazing! The retro space-age video isn’t at all what you would expect from a pop artist- it includes sci-fi inspired outfits, rockets flying through space, astronaut suits and of course lots of dancing on the moon! The new vibe seems to be somewhere inbetween fellow-Aussie Kylie and synth-pop songster Little Boots, I’m sure it will be loved by the music world!
Gabriella’s next album Ten will be released on March 22nd in the UK and On A Mission is released digitally on March 7th.
